PROGRAMS

LESSONS  

Amber Hill offers individualized instruction for children and adults, beginner through advanced, in both Hunt Seat and Combined Training.
Our program is designed to fit the individuals level, needs, abilities and goals.
We teach whole Horsemanship, and our teaching methods encourage safety, responsibility, understanding and good sportsmanship.
We have a nice selection of horses and ponies to suit every level of rider, or you may ride your own horse.
We have a separate program for 4 – 8 year olds.

Now offering a one-time, no obligation EVALUATION Lesson, to help you determine your next steps.

 

COACHING/PROBLEM SOLVING  

Need just a little help, or want to polish up?
We can assist you in sorting out and solving problems with horse or rider, or just polishing up for a show. We offer individual schooling sessions for those wanting just one or two sessions.
Show coaching is also available for non-regular students.

SHOWING WITH AMBER HILL  

We hold VHSA/BHSA Shows monthly from April through October, and encourage students to participate if they choose.
We also attend a variety of other local Shows with Amber Hill horses or your own, and participate in the VHSA & BHSA programs, attending the VHSA Championship Show in Lexington in November.
For those wanting to do A-rated showing, we are pleased to be located within easy access to Commonwealth Park and Rosemount Farm, as well as Keswick, Warrenton and Upperville.

 

AMBER HILL SHOW SERIES  

Amber Hill is an associate member of Virginia Horse Show Association, and the Battlefield Horse Show Association.
We hold a monthly series of Hunter Shows from April through October. We offer year-end awards for all divisions, plus High Point Riders.

Several of our shows have special annual events, such as our Father’s Day Leadline for Dads (not to be missed!), an annual Halloween Costume class with ribbons and prizes, and a special rate for 4-H kids in September in preparation for the State Fair Show.

 

BOARDING   We offer only Full-care board with turn out, space available.

Board is available with or without lessons included.

SUMMER CAMPS

We hold RESIDENT Girls Equestrian Camps, where horses ARE the program!
Amber Hill offers several one-week sessions in Hunters or Eventing. Camps include mounted lessons two times daily, as well as daily unmounted clinics on various topics from show grooming to first aid. Campers will have full responsibility for their own or an assigned horse as part of the experience, and each camp ends with entry into a regular Amber Hill Show or Horse Trials. Limited to 12 per session.

Special for 2008: "College-Bound" Camp - learning about College Riding Programs and focusing on Equitation riding. Includes entry into regular Amber Hill Show.

 

DAY CAMPS

Now offering Progressive Day Camp Program for Summer 2008.

From Pony Camp for 5 - 8 year olds, to new Beginners and Advanced Beginners, we have a camp for you!

 

AIRC TEamAIRC TEAM  

Amber Hill is a member of the American Interschool Riding Competition, which is a program involving teams from area riding schools competing with each other during the winter months (October - March). Patterned after the Intercollegiate Program, the teams compete in Equitation at different riding schools on the host school’s horses.We end in March with an all-team competition, awards,and two $1,000 College Scholarships are awarded.
Amber Hill team tryouts and selection are generally held in September each year. Must be enrolled as a weekly student.

 

4-H PROGRAM  

Amber Hill Farm has been the proud sponsor of the Orange County Solids, Spots & Dots 4-H Horse Club for 18 years.
Open to all boys & girls ages 9 to 18 years old, there are no membership fees, and you do not need to own a horse. Meetings are held monthly, and the club participates in clinics, presentations and competitions, including the 4-H State Championship Show held at Lexington Horse Center in Sept.

 

EVENTING

Amber Hill offers schooling Horse Trials throughout the year. From Walk-Trot 18”, to Training Level 3’ 3”, we offer a positive experience for the beginner horse or rider. We have a Standard size, (20 x 60 meter) sand Dressage arena, Stadium jumping and a Cross-Country course. Levels offered are: Walk-Trot (18”), Baby Novice (2’), Pre-Novice (2’ 6”), Novice (2’ 11”) and Training (3’ 3”).
Cross-Country course is available for schooling for a fee, by appointment.

TRAIL RIDING PROGRAM

Amber Hill is happy to announce the addition of a recreational trail riding program! Riders of any age or level will enjoy 1 1/2 hour session, including brief instruction in the arena before hitting the trails!

Safety oriented and family friendly!

 

HOMESCHOOL HORSE PROGRAM

2 hour "Fun with Horses" Program, designed for Homeschool education. Includes "classroom study" along with riding instruction. 6 week program, one day per week.
